Proceeds for A Night For Heroes
Proceeds from A Night for Heroes are an investment in vital, lifesaving work at UF Health Jacksonville, in our community and across the region.
Our 2023 A Night for Heroes Gala raised funds to purchase MARS, which stands for Molecular Adsorbent Recirculating System. MARS therapy performs some of the primary functions of the liver when the liver is not functioning normally. It can be used for drug poisonings as well as other forms of potentially reversible acute liver injury (toxins, heat stroke, ischemia, trauma). MARS will support all of our critical care areas.
Level I trauma centers, like UF Health TraumaOne, have technology and equipment Level II trauma centers don’t. Not only is MARS an important piece of equipment, it is also rare. The closest MARS is located in Atlanta, Georgia. This equipment will bring lifesaving technology to Northeast Florida and beyond. A Night for Heroes donations support life-saving equipment such as MARS, and other life support services.
