Do I need to be a certified and registered technologist to apply for the BI certificate program?

Yes, you must be ARRT® certified in radiography to apply for the program.

How much does the program cost?

The program costs $2,500 for internal candidates and $3,000 for external candidates.

Are there any additional fees for textbooks?

No! There are no hidden fees. Students are responsible for scrubs, shoes, transportation, and housing. However, all program expenses and resources are covered by the tuition.

Will I be refunded if I am unable to complete the program?

If a student voluntarily withdraws or is dismissed during the first seven calendar days of the program, fifty percent (50%) of the tuition paid will be refunded to the student, and textbooks must be returned to the school. There is no refund for tuition after seven days for voluntary or non-voluntary dismissal.

How long is the program?

The program runs for 4 months beginning in either March or October, depending on what time of year you apply.

Can I apply for the March program and choose to participate in October?

Unfortunately, no. All candidates must apply for the cohort they would like to participate in.

Do you guarantee all candidates will get the volume of clinical experience required to be eligible for the mammography certification exam?

Absolutely! UF Health Jacksonville is a high-volume facility, offering ample opportunities to gain the clinical experience necessary to be eligible for the ARRT® Mammography certification exam.

What if I have a full-time job? Can I still apply and keep my job?

Many students hold flexible part-time jobs, and while program faculty are understanding of varied life circumstances and do their best to be supportive, class and clinical schedules cannot be tailored to individual work commitments. The UF Health Jacksonville BI Certificate Program includes only day shifts which makes it easier to hold an evening job. Regardless, students are expected to prioritize their academic and clinical responsibilities, as these take precedence over outside employment.

When should I apply?

If you want to participate in the March program, you must submit your complete application with all associated documentation and requirements by January 1. If you choose to participate in the October program, you must submit your complete application with all associated documentation and requirements by August 1.

Does UF Health issue my mammography certification?

No. Once you meet the eligibility criteria of the ARRT® mammography clinical and educational requirements and complete the entire program according to our faculty, you will be prepared to take the ARRT® mammography certification exam to receive certification and registration through that national recognition process.

Do you offer job placement for graduates?

No. There is no guarantee of employment upon graduation. However, our breast imaging department regularly hires top-performing graduates from the program. Additionally, there is strong local and national demand for breast imaging techs, a trend that is expected to continue.
