Breast cancer is the most common cancer in American women, except for skin cancers, according to the American Cancer Society. Each day, as many as 500 women in our country — including a growing number of young women — are diagnosed with breast cancer. Despite the increasing number of cases, survival rates are improving with early detection and treatment. While it is most common in women, men can also get breast cancer.

From the medical director

As the first breast center in North Florida, we believe in providing access to a personalized breast cancer care by a team of physicians practicing in different specialties that have the passion, the knowledge and the communications skills necessary to offer the best care possible to our patients. This is achieved by our ability to have the opinions of experts in pathology, radiology, surgical oncology, reconstructive surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology and cancer genetics expressed at our weekly tumor conferences about the diagnosis and follow up treatment of each patient.

We recognize that breast cancer is different in different patients and will design a personalized option for therapy based on the character of each breast cancer subtype. In addition, our experienced navigators and support system adds to the strength of our program to make the journey of breast cancer therapy an easier experience.

Our specialists will listen to your concerns and provide advanced screening and diagnostic care in a warm, welcoming environment. These highly trained physicians will work with you to create an individualized treatment plan to provide you with the best possible outcomes.

Your care team

The UF Health Breast Center uses a multidisciplinary approach. We collaborate with a number of specialists throughout the hospital to assemble a comprehensive team that will support you throughout your treatment. Your breast care team will include experienced physicians in radiology, radiation oncology, breast surgery, medical oncology, pathology and plastic surgery — all evaluating your case and offering their expertise. Nurse navigators are also available to guide your through your entire cancer journey.
