Accredited Chest Pain Center

UF Health Jacksonville is an American College of Cardiology-accredited Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI and Resuscitation, their highest designation available.

American College of Cardiology Accredited Chest Pain Center Primary PCI with Resuscitation

First top-accredited chest pain center in Florida

In 2016, the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care accredited UF Health Jacksonville as a Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI and Resuscitation.

This is the highest designation for chest pain centers and, at the time of the announcement, we were the only hospital in Florida and one of just 24 hospitals in the United States to hold this prestigious designation.

To receive accreditation, a hospital must:

  • Always have staff on duty or minutes away from the facility to treat patients with the most serious heart attacks
  • Be equipped with a robust hypothermia program for follow-up treatment
  • Maintain a "no-diversion policy" for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest patients, which guarantees no one will be turned away or "diverted" to another health care facility at any time, for any reason
  • Have a separate Multidisciplinary Resuscitation Committee with representatives from EMS, emergency medicine, nursing, surgery and administration
