Having a Baby at UF Health North

The birth of your new bundle of joy is one of life’s special moments. Where you decide to deliver your baby should be just as memorable. Take a virtual look inside our labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum unit at UF Health North

Welcome your baby with peace of mind at UF Health North. Our state-of-the-art Labor and Delivery Unit features 12 private suites designed for comfort and care, providing a modern, spacious setting for mothers to welcome their newborns.

Each suite is equipped for labor, delivery and recovery, with some offering hydrotherapy tubs to help ease contraction pains. Throughout your journey, you'll be supported by highly skilled UF Health physicians, nurses and care providers, ensuring a safe and nurturing experience.

The Labor and Delivery Unit is conveniently located on the hospital's second floor. Patients and visitors must check in at the reception desk before entering the secure unit.

Preregister for your delivery

To make your check-in process smoother, we recommend preregistering at the hospital within 30 days of your due date. This allows us to verify your insurance and benefits in advance.

If you are in labor and have preregistered, you can go directly to the Labor and Delivery Unit. Please bring your photo ID and insurance card.

Who can preregister?

Patients may preregister for delivery when they are at least 36 weeks pregnant and are currently registered with a UF Health Women’s Specialists location.

Labor and delivery security

Your safety and peace of mind are our top priorities. The Labor and Delivery Unit is double-locked and protected by the HUGS security system. Visitors must ring the doorbell and check in at the front desk with a valid photo ID before entering.

To further protect your newborn, an electronic tag is placed on one of their feet for continuous monitoring. This ensures we always know your baby’s location—whether resting in their bassinet or being cuddled in your arms.

All Women’s Specialists staff wear pink ID badges with their photo, name and title clearly visible. Do not give your baby to anyone who is not wearing an official badge. If you’re ever unsure or feel uncomfortable, press your call button or notify your nurse immediately. Your baby’s safety and your peace of mind are our top concerns.

Comfortable, supportive birthing experience

Our Labor and Delivery Unit includes 12 private rooms designed to provide comfort, privacy and a calming environment. Three of these rooms feature hydrotherapy tubs to support natural pain management during labor.

In most cases, mothers, babies and support persons stay together in the same room for labor, delivery and recovery — creating a seamless and comforting experience. Each spacious room is thoughtfully designed for both patient and guest comfort, with amenities that support your birth plan and preferences.
