Manish C. Patel earned a doctor of optometry degree from New England College of Optometry, Boston, Massachusetts in 2000. He is board certified in Optometry, with specialties in contact lenses, cornea/ocular surface disease and myopia management. Dr. Patel began his career at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida. In 2003 he transitioned into the role of Chief Optometrist at UF Health Jacksonville in the Department of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Patel joined the private sector in 2010 and successfully started two optometry practices in the Jacksonville community. In 2021, Dr. Patel rejoined UF Health Jacksonville in the Department of Ophthalmology, where he continues to serve patients in Northeast Florida.
Dr. Patel’s clinical interests are in myopia control, ocular surface disease/dry eyes, contact lenses and practice management, in addition to offering comprehensive eye exams. Dr. Patel also has extensive research experience in the area of soft contact lenses with industry leading companies and continues to be involved with ongoing medical device research.
Dr. Patel has served on the board of the Northeast Florida Optometric Society as a board member and was a past president in 2007. He continues memberships with the American Optometric Association, Florida Optometric Association and Northeast Florida Optometric Society.
In his spare time, Dr. Patel enjoys traveling, hiking, biking and spending time with family and friends and his puppy.
