She serves as program director for the Breast Pathology Fellowship and the Cytopathology Fellowship programs. She is also medical director for the UF Health Breast Center and is director of research. She received her medical degree from Shiraz University in Shiraz, Iran. She completed an anatomic and clinical pathology residency, as well as a cytopathology fellowship, at Jacksonville Health Education Programs in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Masood has devoted her entire professional life to advancing breast health. Her clinical and research interests are rooted in breast pathology, cytopathology, early breast cancer detection, use of minimally invasive procedures to provide optimal samples for analysis, and prognostic and predictive factors in breast cancer. She launched an annual, international Multidisciplinary Symposium on Breast Health in 1995 focused on appropriateness of clinical cancer care and improving breast health literacy around the world, and has hosted the symposium in several international cities, including Rome, Paris, Cairo, Dammam (Saudi Arabia) and Tehran (Iran). Dr. Masood also serves as editor of The Breast Journal, the first comprehensive, multidisciplinary medical journal devoted exclusively to all facets of research, diagnosis and treatment of breast disease. Additionally, since 2000, Dr. Masood has hosted an annual public forum on breast health. The free event brings breast health education to some of Jacksonville’s most medically underserved communities.
