About me
After graduating medical school and residency in anatomical/surgical pathology, Dr. Koochekpour obtained his PhD in cellular and molecular of oncology from Kings’ College London-School of Medicine, University of London, UK. He continued his postdoctoral training at National Cancer Institute (Frederick, MD) and LSU-Health Sciences Center (New Orleans, LA). Dr. Koochekpour has comprehensive training and experience in cellular and molecular biology of cancer, analyzing gene expression and functions, oncogenes and tumor suppressors, cancer genetics, health disparity research, drug discovery-targeted therapy, and basic and translational prostate cancer research. His research led to the cloning of PSAP gene from the metastatic and castration-resistant prostate cancer cells and the discovery of Riluzole as an anti-AR for the androgen-dependent and castration-recurrent prostate cancer. Dr. Koochekpour is an author of more than 90 peer-reviewed research and review articles. Since 2001, Dr. Koochekpour has served as a reviewer for over 35 basic and clinical oncology journals and as editor, guest editor, corresponding editor, and editorial board member for several cancer and uro-oncology journals.
