Brain Tumors

The Brain Tumor Program is a unique, all-inclusive treatment program which has earned a reputation for exceptional outcomes treating the most complex tumors. Led by UF Health neurosurgeon Daryoush Tavanaiepour, MD, the program brings together a team of highly trained medical specialists from across the neuromedical, surgical and oncologic fields.

Epilepsy

The Epilepsy Surgery Program, part of the UF Health Neuroscience Institute's Comprehensive Epilepsy Program, offers an array of diagnostic evaluation and surgical treatment options for patients with epilepsy.

Functional/Movement Disorders

The multidisciplinary Movement Disorder Surgery Program, led by UF Health neurosurgeon Daryoush Tavanaiepour, MD, provides comprehensive treatment of movement disorders. The program offers patients the latest technologies, including frameless deep brain stimulation (DBS) and intraoperative imaging. Conditions treated include:

  • Dystonia, including spasmodic torticollis
  • Epilepsy
  • Essential tremor
  • Parkinson’s disease

Pediatric Craniofacial Surgery

A joint program of the UF Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery and the UF Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the Jacksonville Cleft and Craniofacial Program offers treatment for pediatric patients with congenital skull conditions and deformities. The neurosurgery team is led by fellowship-trained pediatric neurosurgeon Nathan Ranalli, MD. Conditions treated include:

  • Cleft lip
  • Cleft palate
  • Craniosynostosis

Pediatric Neurosurgery

UF Health Pediatric Neurosurgery provides state-of-the-art neurosurgical care for infants, children and adolescents. Led by Philipp Aldana, MD, a fellowship-trained UF pediatric neurosurgeon and one of the top doctors in his specialty, the division provides surgical treatment for the spectrum of pediatric neurologic disorders, including:

  • Brachial plexus injuries
  • Brain and nerve tumors
  • Epilepsy
  • Hydrocephalus
  • Pediatric neurological trauma
  • Spasticity
  • Spina bifida
  • Vascular disease

Peripheral Nerve

The UF Health Peripheral Nerve Surgery Program offers treatment for disorders of the peripheral nerves, including:

  • Brachial plexus injuries
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Nerve tumors (schwannomas, neurofibromas)
  • Thoracic outlet syndrome
  • Traumatic nerve injuries
  • Ulnar nerve entrapment

Skull Base Center

The UF Health Skull Base Center provides advanced treatment options to patients with tumors and abnormalities of the brain and cranial base region. Led by UF Health neurosurgeon Daryoush Tavanaiepour, MD, the center includes specially trained physicians and staff from neurosurgery, otolaryngology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, neuroradiology, neuropathology, radiation oncology and other oncologic specialties.

The UF Health Comprehensive Spine Center, led by UF Health neurosurgeon Kourosh Tavanaiepour, DO, provides comprehensive, state-of-the-art surgical care for spinal disorders, including:

  • Degenerative disc disorder (spinal degenerative disease)
  • Neck and back pain
  • Sciatica
  • Scoliosis
  • Spinal disc herniation
  • Spinal tumors (principal and metastatic)

Trauma

Part of UF Health TraumaOne, the only adult and pediatric Level I trauma center in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia, the UF Health Neurotrauma Program is a joint program of neurosurgeons and neurointensivists offering treatment for traumatic brain injury (TBI) and spinal cord injury (SCI).

Vascular

UF neurosurgeons in the UF Health Cerebrovascular Surgery Program offer both open and endovascular treatment for vascular diseases of the brain, neck and spinal cord. Conditions treated include:

  • Aneurysms
  • Arteriovenous malformations (AVM)
  • Carotid stenosis
  • Moyamoya disease
