UF Health Jacksonville Breaks Ground on New Emergency & Urgent Care Center

Groundbreaking

UF Health Jacksonville broke ground Sept. 24 on its fourth state-of-the-art emergency and urgent care center in the region. The three current emergency and urgent care centers spread throughout Jacksonville have brought cutting-edge health care and technology closer to home in three different communities, giving residents multiple choices to receive care.

This newest EUC will be located along Atlantic Boulevard, just west of the Intracoastal Waterway and minutes away from Atlantic and Neptune beaches. The two-story facility will be approximately 25,000 square feet and offer the same 24/7 full emergency and urgent care services under one roof, complete with a dedicated ambulance entrance, on-site imaging (CT, X-ray, ultrasound and EKG), and laboratory services. The second floor will be home to primary care offices.

“These centers have been incredibly popular throughout Jacksonville because of the unique services they offer to patients and their families,” said Patrick L. Green, FACHE, senior vice president and Northeast Florida regional president of UF Health. “Not only do patients receive the most comprehensive, compassionate care possible, but they also receive only the care they need, which can drastically cut down on their costs. It has undoubtably changed how we deliver our emergency care in this region.”

The new facility joins UF Health’s three other centers: New Kings Road in northwest Jacksonville; Jacksonville’s Southside at the intersection of I-295 and Baymeadows Road; , and Lane Avenue on Jacksonville’s Westside. Each of the centers bring the highest level of care and technology as those offered at UF Health’s main campuses Downtown, in North Jacksonville and in St. Johns County.

Each of the facilities includes full-service ER and urgent care services that are open 24/7. Each facility is equipped with on-site lab equipment and a radiology suite with X-ray and multi-slice CT scanners, and they are staffed with board-certified emergency medicine physicians. An emergency medicine specialist examines each patient and determines the appropriate level of care. Key features of the hybrid concept are a commitment to billing transparency with no surprise bills. Patients will only pay for the level of care they need. The facilities also accept most insurance plans, along with Medicare and Medicaid.
