UF Health Jacksonville ED Distinguished for Geriatric Care

The UF Health Jacksonville Downtown Emergency Department has been recognized for its excellent geriatric patient care. In January, the American College of Emergency Physicians distinguished the ED as a Geriatric Emergency Department with a Silver Level 2 GED accreditation. UF Health Jacksonville is the only health care facility with this distinction in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.

The accreditation signals that UF Health is committed to providing the best care possible to our community’s older adults. By catering to the special needs of geriatric patients and integrating best practices for these patients, the ED is offering a standard of care that can drive better, healthier outcomes and help ensure optimal transitions of care from the ED to other settings such as inpatient, home or rehabilitation.

Nicole Scotty, division director of Emergency Services, called earning the accreditation a testament to the team’s dedication to excellence in emergency care.

Gage, DO, emergency medicine assistant medical director, whose leadership and commitment made this milestone possible.
