Arm Lift
Significant weight loss can result in surplus skin on the upper arm, just as a significant
weight gain can cause excess fat in the upper arm. An arm lift, also known as brachioplasty,
is a surgical procedure performed to remove extra skin and fat from the upper arms.
An arm lift is typically performed as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia
and takes about two hours to complete. An incision is made, either near the armpit
or on the inside of the arm, excess skin and tissue are removed, and the remaining
skin is lifted and tightened. The incision is then closed. Side effects may include
minor pain, bruising, and swelling.
Body Lift
The effects of gravity over time or significant weight loss can result in a body
that sags, droops, or has an overabundance of skin. A body lift is a surgical procedure
intended to remove excess skin and unwanted tissue from the hip, thigh, and buttock
areas, lifting and tightening the remaining skin and tissue. This procedure is especially
effective for patients who have already undergone bariatric surgery.
A body lift can be performed in combination with abdominoplasty, commonly called
a tummy tuck, or liposuction for a more complete reshaping of the body. The benefits
of a body lift include more confidence in your appearance and better overall health.
Liposuction
Liposuction is often used to improve problem areas that, despite an otherwise healthy
lifestyle, signal aging, flabbiness and obesity. Once fat pockets develop in problem
areas like the neck, upper arms, stomach, inner or outer thighs, or buttocks, even
daily exercise and a wholesome diet seldom remove them entirely.
Liposuction is a surgical procedure to remove unwanted fat deposits. During liposuction,
a small incision is made in the targeted problem area, a hollow tube is inserted
into the incision, and the unwanted fat cells and excess tissue are suctioned out
of the treatment area and discarded. Liposuction treatments are performed on an
outpatient basis under anesthesia, and lasts two or more hours. The benefits of
liposuction include a leaner, firmer physique. Side effects are temporary and may
include burning, numbness, bruising, and soreness.
Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
Abdominoplasty, also known as a tummy tuck, can quickly and easily get rid of the
unwanted pounds and inches around the midsection. Tummy tuck cosmetic surgery reduces
girth and increases the definition and tone of your abs.
The tummy tuck procedure is done on an outpatient basis under anesthesia. An incision
is made from one hip to the other, and skin is separated from the abdominal muscles.
The muscles are tightened, the waistline is narrowed, and the skin flap is folded
down in order to remove excess skin. The skin flap is repositioned and stitched
closed. The tummy tuck procedure can take from two to four hours, depending on the
extent of the work to be done. The most common side effects of tummy tuck cosmetic
surgery are swelling and pain, which may last two to four weeks.
