Richard Reichstadter Awarded for Nursing Excellence

Congratulations to quarterly DAISY Award® winner Richard Reichstadter, RN, 8 South Surgery. Nominated by patients and colleagues, Reichstadter was selected for providing exceptional patient care and consistently assisting teammates.
In their praise, patients said they had great trust and confidence in Reichstadter, who offered compassionate and gentle care they had only ever experienced from family members. Colleagues said that their co-worker often answered call lights for other nurses’ patients and consistently offered his assistance without being asked.
The DAISY Award is a nationwide program that was established by the Barnes family in 1999 to honor their son Patrick who died from an autoimmune disease. The family also wanted to thank the nurses who cared for him during his hospitalization and create a system for others to celebrate nurses for the exceptional care they deliver every day. DAISY is an acronym that stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune System.
As a DAISY Award hospital partner, UF Health Jacksonville recognizes three nurses or teams of nurses with this special honor every quarter. Nominations are reviewed by a UF Health Jacksonville committee of nurse managers, nurse education specialists, and clinical quality nurse leaders.
Patients and employees can nominate nurses online. Learn more about the national DAISY award program on the foundation website.
