Employees recognized for service anniversaries and accomplishments over the past year
Dozens of University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville and University of Florida Jacksonville Healthcare, Inc. employees were recognized in June for their service and achievements over the past year.
This was the first year two employees were honored for reaching the 40-year mark: Dee Harnage, a registered nurse practitioner in pediatrics, and Delores Hulsizer, a medical secretary in the department of internal medicine.
Harnage has been in neonatology her entire 40 years at UF, the last 30 as a nurse practitioner. The neonatology program is a city-wide practice and Harnage now works out of Memorial Hospital after spending the first 35 years of her career at Shands Jacksonville Medical Center.
When Hulsizer first went to work in the accounting department back in 1972, her father told her she needed to stay at least five years or she’d be labeled a "job hopper." And while she did leave once – a five-month stint in a private medical office before learning it wasn’t for her – she’s been a fixture on campus since.
Daniel R. Wilson, M.D., Ph.D., vice president for health affairs and dean of the UF College of Medicine-Jacksonville, thanked the employees for their service, especially as the campus continues to move through challenging economic times.
"We’ll get there, in no small part due to the extraordinary dedication, loyalty and talent of the people here today," Wilson said.
Employees are given pins and awards to mark their anniversary with the organization. Recognition is given in increments of five years, starting at the fifth year. Employees are also recognized for career achievement and earning college degrees.
