Rathore new president of state pediatrics association

Learning Resource Center

A University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville pediatrician is the new president of the Florida Chapter of American Academy of Pediatrics/Florida Pediatric Society (FCAAP/FPS).

Mobeen H. Rathore, M.B.B.S. (M.D.), professor and associate chair of pediatrics, was installed as president during the chapter’s annual meeting last month in Sarasota. Rathore, who also serves as division chief of pediatric infectious diseases and immunology, will serve a two-year term. He was president-elect from 2010-12.

Rathore is director of the UF Center for HIV/AIDS Research, Education and Services (UF CARES) and plays a key role in the local medical community, including vice president of the Duval County Medical Society.

Rathore came to UF in 1991 and has worked to build various programs, including recently securing Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home recognition from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for UF CARES.

Rathore is an active member of the Florida Chapter of American Academy of Pediatrics and is on the editorial board for AAP Grand Rounds, Pediatrics in Review, Infectious Disease Forum, and Journal of Pediatric Infectious Diseases.

"As president of the FCAAP/FPS I am honored to serve the pediatricians of Florida. My role is to advocate and support those who sacrifice their time and talents by giving health care to the most vulnerable citizens, our children," Rathore said. "For the next two years, nothing will be more important than upholding the FCAAP/FPS’ mission: helping pediatricians and pediatric specialists improve children’s health and welfare."
