UF emergency medicine faculty elected to leadership roles with Florida College of Emergency Physicians, residents take top honors in competition

Kelly R. Gray-Eurom, M.D., an associate professor of emergency medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville, was elected president of the Florida College of Emergency Physicians (FCEP) at the organization’s annual Symposium by the Sea meeting.

Gray-Eurom, also the associate chair of emergency medicine and director of clinical and business operations, is the fourth faculty member from the UF College of Medicine-Jacksonville to be elected president.

Ashley B. Norse, M.D., associate professor and associate program director of the emergency medicine residency, is now vice president the organization.

L. Kendall Webb, M.D., an assistant professor of emergency medicine, was elected to serve her first term on the 19-member board. She will also serve as chair of the newly created Emergency Medicine Information Technology (EDIT) Committee.

Emergency medicine residents from Jacksonville also swept the case presentation competition awards. Chris Mann, M.D., won best overall case discussant and Arielle Kuritzky-Havens, M.D. won best overall case presentation, which earned the UF College of Medicine-Jacksonville the top overall award as well.

Phyllis L. Hendry, M.D., an associate professor and assistant chair of emergency medicine research, accepted the second place award at the conference poster session on behalf of the department poster presentation on UF’s Pediatric Emergency Care Safety Initiative (PECSI).

The FCEP is the primary physician organization addressing and acting on EMS issues in Florida and is a chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians. With more than 1,400 members, it is one of the largest state chapters in the nation.
