Mirza appointed to Committee on Pediatric AIDS

Ayesha Mirza, M.D., a University of Florida College of Medicine–Jacksonville associate professor of pediatrics and medical director of the UF Center for HIV/AIDS Research, Education and Service, was recently appointed to the Committee on Pediatric AIDS of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

This committee is responsible for setting policy and management guidelines for care of infants, children and adolescents exposed to or infected by HIV. This committee offers consultations and guidance to other policy-making bodies and local and federal governments, setting the standards for care for children infected with HIV.

Mirza received her medical education at Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pa., and her fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at Tulane University Medical Center in New Orleans.
