Palmeter selected as AAPC advisory board officer
Maryann Palmeter, CPC, CENTC, director of physician billing compliance for University of Florida Jacksonville Healthcare, Inc., has been selected by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) for an officer position with its national advisory board. Palmeter, who has been a member of the national advisory board since April, 2011, will serve two years as secretary beginning in April.
Since becoming an advisory board member, Palmeter has promoted the UF College of Medicine–Jacksonville through several articles in AAPC’s “Coding Edge” magazine; by lecturing at local, regional and national levels; and by mentoring other AAPC members (including a large number of faculty-practice employees on both the Gainesville and Jacksonville campuses). In April, she will again provide a compliance lecture at the AAPC’s national conference in Orlando, and she will lend her expertise to quarterly coding and compliance-related conference calls for the Association of American Medical Colleges Compliance Officers’ Forum.
The AAPC has more than 118,000 members worldwide. Palmeter said she is honored to continue promoting the UF College of Medicine while serving in her new position.
