UF Health TraumaOne receives funds raised by 7k race
In late September, UF Health Jacksonville received $14,275 from the United for Heroes 7k benefiting the hospital’s TraumaOne program. The check was presented during a ribbon-cutting event celebrating the grand opening of Unity Plaza, a new multi-purpose community park in Jacksonville’s Riverside area.
Earlier this year, Unity Plaza organizers hosted the 7k to benefit TraumaOne, which provided first aid services and volunteers for the event. Proceeds from the race will be joined with the donations made at the A Night for Heroes gala to support trauma center renovations, purchase of state-of-the-art equipment, the education and injury prevention programs and the critical needs of the trauma center.
UF Health Jacksonville is home to the region’s only adult and pediatric Level I trauma center. It features UF Health trauma surgeons, nurses and other health care experts in areas such as neurosurgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthopaedic trauma surgery and cardiothoracic surgery. Their services are available on campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The unit serves 30 counties in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia and provides life-saving care to more than 4,000 trauma victims each year.
