UF Health remembers late family medicine physician

UF Health is remembering Anna Gajda, MD, a University of Florida faculty member who passed away March 17. Gajda was an assistant professor of community health and family medicine and medical director of UF Health Family Medicine – Murray Hill.

Born in Poland in 1956, Gajda received her medical degree with honors in 1981 from the Medical Academy of Lodz in Lodz, Poland. She completed a family medicine residency in 2006 at the UF College of Medicine – Jacksonville and joined the college as a faculty member soon afterward. In 2015, she was appointed medical director of the UF Health Family Medicine – Murray Hill practice.

Gajda was known among staff for her affinity for, and sharing of, Polish chocolate. Colleagues said she was amazing to the staff and is missed every day. Her generosity, positive spirit and genuine love toward her colleagues and patients leave a lasting legacy.

“We remember Dr. Gajda in many ways, especially her kindness toward everyone,” said Nipa Shah, MD, a professor and chair of community health and family medicine. “She was proud to be a family medicine physician and had developed meaningful long-term relationships with thousands of patients. I am very grateful I had the privilege of working with her and will miss her greatly.”
