Breast Imaging Advanced Certificate Program

UF Health Jacksonville Breast Imaging Advanced Certificate Program

The UF Health Jacksonville Breast Imaging (BI) Certificate Program offers a unique and immersive training experience for radiologic technologists who are already registered in radiography. Our students benefit from a dynamic, fast-paced learning environment that reflects real-world challenges and opportunities.

Over the course of this 4-month program, students receive hands-on clinical training alongside experienced, registered breast imaging technologists. Working with advanced, state-of-the-art imaging equipment, students not only develop technical expertise in breast imaging but also contribute meaningfully to high-quality, compassionate patient care, often during some of the most critical moments in a patient’s life.

The program is carefully structured to support motivated and qualified students in meeting the requirements for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists® (ARRT) Mammography certification exam. With a curriculum centered on clinical experience, individualized tutoring, and mentorship, students gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to succeed in advanced breast imaging and achieve professional certification.

Clinical training takes place at an academic facility that performs approximately 300 BI procedures each week, offering students exposure to a diverse array of imaging scenarios. This high acuity setting ensures students engage in extensive, varied clinical experiences, reinforcing their readiness for independent BI practice.

Clinical education focuses on the application of knowledge and skills in real-life breast imaging procedures, conducted in fully equipped imaging departments. At UF Health Jacksonville, the goal is to develop procedural competency across the range of breast imaging exams required by the ARRT®. Throughout the program, students’ progress is closely monitored and evaluated by instructors and qualified technical staff, ensuring continuous growth and preparation for certification and clinical success.
