Computed Tomography Advanced Certificate Program

Computed Tomography Advanced Certificate Program

The UF Health Jacksonville Computed Tomography (CT) Advanced Certificate Program offers a unique and immersive training experience for radiologic technologists who are already registered in radiography or nuclear medicine technology. As the only Level I trauma academic health center serving Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia, our students benefit from a dynamic, fast-paced learning environment that reflects real-world challenges and opportunities.

Over the course of this 4-month program, students receive hands-on clinical training alongside experienced, registered CT technologists. Working with advanced, state-of-the-art imaging equipment, students not only develop technical expertise in CT imaging but also contribute meaningfully to high-quality, compassionate patient care, often during some of the most critical moments in a patient’s life.

The program is carefully structured to support motivated and qualified students in meeting the requirements for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists® (ARRT) CT certification exam. With a curriculum centered on clinical experience, individualized tutoring, and mentorship, students gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to succeed in advanced CT imaging and achieve professional certification.

Clinical training takes place at a 750-bed, Level I trauma academic health center known for its complex patient population and wide range of medical cases. The facility performs approximately 700 CT procedures each week, offering students exposure to a diverse array of imaging scenarios, including emergency, inpatient, and outpatient care. This high acuity setting ensures students engage in extensive, varied clinical experiences, reinforcing their readiness for independent CT practice.

Clinical education focuses on the application of knowledge and skills in real-life CT procedures, conducted in fully equipped imaging departments. At UF Health Jacksonville, the goal is to develop procedural competency across the range of CT exams required by the ARRT. Throughout the program, students’ progress is closely monitored and evaluated by instructors and qualified technical staff, ensuring continuous growth and preparation for certification and clinical success.
