Liposuction is often used to improve problem areas that, despite an otherwise healthy lifestyle, signal aging, flabbiness and obesity. Once fat pockets develop in problem areas like the neck, upper arms, stomach, inner or outer thighs, or buttocks, even daily exercise and a wholesome diet seldom remove them entirely.

Liposuction is a surgical procedure to remove unwanted fat deposits. During liposuction, a small incision is made in the targeted problem area, a hollow tube is inserted into the incision, and the unwanted fat cells and excess tissue are suctioned out of the treatment area and discarded. Liposuction treatments are performed on an outpatient basis under anesthesia, and lasts two or more hours.

The benefits of liposuction include a leaner, firmer physique. Side effects are temporary and may include burning, numbness, bruising and soreness.
