Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty)

Abdominoplasty, also known as a tummy tuck, can quickly and easily get rid of the unwanted pounds and inches around the midsection. Tummy tuck cosmetic surgery reduces girth and increases the definition and tone of your abs.

The tummy tuck procedure is done on an outpatient basis under anesthesia. An incision is made from one hip to the other, and skin is separated from the abdominal muscles. The muscles are tightened, the waistline is narrowed, and the skin flap is folded down in order to remove excess skin. The skin flap is repositioned and stitched closed. The tummy tuck procedure can take from two to four hours, depending on the extent of the work to be done. The most common side effects of tummy tuck cosmetic surgery are swelling and pain, which may last two to four weeks.
