About me

Meet UF Health Jacksonville acute care surgeon Brian Yorkgitis, DO. The UF Health TraumaOne Trauma Center is backed by University of Florida faculty surgeons, physician extenders, resident physicians, and a staff of specialists who combine the brilliance of academic excellence with the advanced clinical skills you would expect from some of the finest physicians in the country.

Brian Yorkgitis, D.O., is a University of Florida Associate Professor of Surgery and a board-certified acute care surgeon and ECMO physician at UF Health in Jacksonville. He also serves as Associate Chair for Community Outreach for the Department of Surgery; Associate Director of UF Health TraumaOne Flight Services; Medical Director of Pediatric Trauma and the PICU at UF Health Jacksonville; and Associate Medical Director of the Adult Trauma. Dr. Yorkgitis received his medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his surgery residency in surgery at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, as well as a fellowship in surgical critical care at Harvard/Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Yorkgitis is the tactical physician for Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
