Program Specifics
The UF Health Jacksonville Vascular Interventional Radiography Program is designed to assist the
qualified and motivated student to complete the requirements for the certification
examination in vascular interventional radiography.
UF Health Jacksonville is a 750-bed, Level I trauma academic health
center that averages approximately 350 procedures monthly. The clinical portion of
the training will provide the student will ample opportunities to experience a procedurally
diverse and volume-intense clinical experience.
The curriculum has a blend of classroom lectures, numerous instructional activities
and direct patient contact clinical experiences. Clinical experience/training schedules
will require 30 hours per week which may include day shift and call shadowing (near
the end of the program). The total clinical training experience will encompass approximately
720 hours. We will attempt to develop a clinical training schedule that will meet
the needs of the working professional.
The primary emphasis on preparation for the written exam is self-study. The program
will provide 16 hours of face-to-face classroom instruction that is taught by UF
Health Jacksonville personnel. All students will be given access and/or provided
with a variety of self-study instructional materials. A detailed schedule of classroom
activities will be made available by the instructors. A dedicated classroom is available
for classroom activities. Class times will be determined by the instructional staff
and the student body. It is highly recommended that the students attend the face-to-face
classroom activities.
Enrollment in this program will be very limited; we expect to only enroll 1 student
per 8-month program.
