Building the future of care: What UF Health North's latest expansion means for Northeast Florida

On July 8, 2024, UF Health and University of Florida leaders, along with faculty, staff, city officials, representatives, and other members of the community, celebrated the grand opening of the second bed tower at UF Health North with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

This six-floor tower is now open and accepting patients. It features 124 new patient rooms, a state-of-the-art inpatient rehabilitation unit, a new concierge wing, a larger emergency department, and more advanced patient care services. This latest expansion allows UF Health to help more patients in the fast-growing area of North Jacksonville and Nassau County.

UF Health North makes access to high-quality medical care more convenient for residents throughout Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.

Located in North Jacksonville on Max Leggett Parkway near Interstate 95, the UF Health North campus includes a 92-bed hospital, 24/7 adult and pediatric emergency center, and an outpatient multispecialty medical office building.

UF Health North is the only full-service hospital in North Jacksonville. The facility features all-private rooms, which studies show promote faster recovery and improve the patient experience. Here patients receive comprehensive care from UF Health specialists and surgeons. The hospital provides 12 spacious labor and delivery suites and two dedicated obstetric operating rooms, opening in summer 2017, so mothers-to-be can deliver closer to home.

More than 20 specialty services are available at UF Health North’s medical office building, which is staffed by top UF Health and community physicians. Whether a patient is seeking routine well care or more advanced treatments, they can find a specialist here to meet their health care needs. Outpatient lab and diagnostic services are available on-site, as well as advanced imaging, including 3D digital breast tomosynthesis and the region’s first open MRI.
