Child and adolescent psychiatry is a subspecialty of psychiatry with additional skills and training in the diagnosis and treatment of developmental, behavioral, emotional and mental disorders of childhood and adolescence.

Our child and adolescent providers specialize in comprehensive mental health care services. They have extensive experience in diagnosing, managing and treating mental health conditions, such as ADHD, anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder.

UF Health Psychiatry offers the following child and adolescent psychiatry services:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy, or CBT
  • Dialectical behavior therapy, or DBT
  • Family therapy
  • Groups – DBT skills training group
  • Individual therapy
    • CBT
    • DBT
    • EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (Coming Spring 2024)
    • Trauma-focused therapy
  • Medication management
  • Parent training
  • Parent-child interaction therapy
  • Psychiatric evaluations
  • Psycho-educational testing

Providers at UF Health Psychiatry bring together innovative psychiatric care, educational programs and research to improve the lives of children and adolescents with mental illness. They use evidence-based methods, individualized treatment plans and a strong focus on prevention to help make positive changes in their patients’ lives.

Our team includes board certified child and adolescent psychiatrists, psychologists and licensed psychotherapists, providing evidence-based treatment. We are also a training program for child and adolescent psychiatry residents and fellows.
