Colon and Rectal Cancer
Evaluation and Diagnosis
The most accurate method for diagnosing and evaluating these colonic processes is
a colonoscopy. This endoscopic procedure should also be performed in everyone over
the age of 50 in order to properly screen for colon cancer.
Occasionally, x-rays or radiologic scans using dye within the bowel are required
to make an accurate diagnosis prior to surgery.
