Pregnancy in Epilepsy Program
The UF Health Pregnancy in Epilepsy Program, or PEP, is a unique offering to patients in our area.
The program addresses the challenges and concerns of pregnant women with epilepsy. In addition, the team offers individualized care every month during pregnancy for women with epilepsy.
PEP services include:
- Office visits with epilepsy physicians throughout pregnancy
- Coordination with obstetricians
- Consultation with pharmacists regarding antiseizure medications
- Patient counseling with the Epilepsy program coordinator
- FAQs regarding pregnancy in epilepsy
- Information on pregnancy support services
- Pregnancy data registries that determine which anti-seizure medications cause birth defects
- Specific recommendations on breastfeeding for women with epilepsy
