My bio
James G Cain, MD, MBA, FASA, FAAP, DABA serves as Professor and Chair of Anesthesiology at University of Florida College of Medicine Jacksonville. He has significant and broad leadership experience in Academic Anesthesiology, Perioperative Services, Advocacy, and Professional Societies. Dr Cain has a particular interest in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management and endorses his Value Based Leadership Model.
Dr Cain has served on a multitude of Committees and Boards of Directors from the local to the international. He currently serves as President of the Trauma Anesthesiology Society and is a Past President of the International Trauma Anesthesia and Critical Care Society, and the West Virginia Society of Anesthesiologists, while also long serving in the American Society of Anesthesiologists House of Delegates. Dr Cain has authored more than forty peer reviewed articles and manuscripts, invited articles and manuscripts, and book chapters. He has given more than three hundred invited lectures and professorships, including more than one hundred international lectures. He is routinely a highly rated educator and has organized a multitude of educational activities from educational programs through evaluative tools.
Dr Cain is triply board certified in Anesthesiology, Pediatric Anesthesiology, and Critical Care Medicine with advanced training in Adult and Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. He completed his Anesthesiology Residency and Fellowships at Harvard’s Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital, and internship at Yale. He earned his MD and MBA from the University of Pittsburgh and his BS from the University of Scranton, where he also lettered in Wrestling. Dr Cain previously served as Faculty at West Virginia University, the University of Pittsburgh, and Harvard’s Massachusetts General Hospital.
