Getting Started: Student Volunteer Program
Summer Student Volunteer Program
The SSV summer program usually runs for 3 weeks in the summer. To qualify for the
program, you must be at least 15 – 17 years of age and have at least a 3.0 GPA.
Applicants must be able to commit to the full three weeks of service. Limited space
is available, not all qualified applicants are accepted. The 2018 Summer Student
Volunteer program will run from June 25 – July 12. Student volunteers serve each
week, full days on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during that timeframe.
Applications and necessary program information will be distributed the week of April
30 – May 4 from the Volunteer Services office, 655 W. 8th Street, Jacksonville,
FL 32209 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The Volunteer Services office
is located just inside the main hospital building (Clinical Center) on the 1st floor,
main lobby, across from the piano. There will be opportunities to serve at the downtown
campus and the north campus.
The deadline to return completed applications and required forms will be Friday,
All applicants will be notified by Friday, May 25th via email, as to whether or
not they were accepted into the program.
Homeschool Student Volunteer Program
The HSV program runs year around with the exception of the summer months each year.
To qualify for the program, you must be at least 16-17 years of age, be a student
who is home schooled and have at least a 3.0 GPA. Applicants must be able to commit
to 80 hours of service. Limited space is available, not all qualified applicants
are accepted. Students who are a part of this program can apply anytime and be available
to serve during the months of September – May. They must volunteer during the daytime
hours of Monday – Friday, typically a four hour shift each week. For more information
