UF Health North is looking for caring individuals to join our team of volunteers. Located in North Jacksonville on Max Leggett Parkway near Interstate 95, UF Health North is a state‑of‑the‑art medical complex that includes a 168-bed hospital with an adult and pediatric emergency center and an outpatient multispecialty medical office building. Volunteers are assigned to many different departments at UF Health North based on availability, interests, skill and abilities. Patient contact is available for those who prefer it, or you may choose to work behind the scenes. Whatever your interest or special skills are, we have exciting and challenging opportunities for you.
In addition to the personal satisfaction you will receive from helping others, our volunteers receive a free meal from our cafeteria during each four-hour shift. Free flu shots are also available to volunteers during flu season each year.

Volunteer Opportunities at UF Health North
Patient Navigator/Guest Services
Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Volunteers greet and assist patients and visitors in the main lobby of UF Health North. Volunteers will provide general customer service and escort patients to different areas within the complex if needed.
Activity Volunteer
7 days a week, 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Volunteer functions as an ambassador of goodwill visiting and interacting with patients, families, and staff. The volunteer’s mission is to lift the spirit and reduce the emotional suffering of those who are ill and alone. The volunteer’s role is to present offerings from the activity cart that might be of interest to the patient (i.e., crossword puzzles, playing cards, etc.).
Admissions Volunteer
Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Volunteers will help patients, families, and visitors by welcoming them, helping with the admission or registration process, and directing, transporting, or escorting them to their destination. Additionally, the volunteer may assist with the preparation of admission kits or other patient information documents.
Rehab Services Volunteer
Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Volunteers will assist Physical Therapy staff by welcoming patients to the treatment area. Assist staff by keeping the treatment areas clean and organized.
Dog Therapy Volunteer
7 days a week, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Our dog therapy program ensures a positive experience for patients, visitors, and staff. Our policy allows registered therapy animal teams that meet certain requirements to visit patients.
Emergency Room Volunteer
Any day, 7 a.m. – 9 p.m.
The primary role of an emergency department volunteer is to visit patients and family members and assist them with non-clinical tasks and comfort measures. A volunteer may assist with additional duties and responsibilities, such cleaning and restocking emergency department items.
Radiology Volunteer
Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Volunteers will assist the staff at the front desk and help provide a welcoming environment by greeting the patients, escorting them to registration, examination rooms and other areas if needed.
Outpatient Surgery Volunteer
Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
In this role, volunteers will assist nursing staff by providing non-clinical support to patients and families by helping provide customer service, emotional support and comfort.
