Program summary: UF Health Jacksonville ranks among the best teaching hospitals in the nation. UF Health Jacksonville Rehabilitation Services, as part of this premier education health center, has trained hundreds of young clinicians in acute care, transitional care, and outpatient practice settings. The post-graduate residency education is a critical and essential component of post-graduate specialty training in physical therapy.

The UF Health Jacksonville Physical Therapy Residency Programs are designed to provide exceptional clinical education across the continuum of defined specialty physical therapy practice based on American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS). Our program believes interactive learning is critical for the development of life-long learning, professionalism, accountability and critical thinking. Each component of residency training is designed to correlate with ABPTRFE Quality Standards, and individual academic curriculum learning objectives.

The Residency Program education involves didactic work, clinical research, mentored leadership and clinical training via structured mentorship. Residents are expected to be able to implement all learned knowledge and skills into defined specialty practice resulting in the next generation of highly effective clinical specialist in physical therapy and further improving community health outcomes.

Mission Statement: The UF Health Jacksonville Acute Care Physical Therapy Residency program is dedicated to continuous improvement and strategic initiatives that support program growth by leveraging Level 1 trauma, academic and community-based hospital learning experiences for high quality, advanced post-professional education. The program prepares acute care physical therapists with evidence-based, specialty knowledge and skills resulting in improved patient outcomes and future leaders in acute care practice.

The Acute Care Physical Therapy Residency Program is currently in development with ABPTRFE.

Program Length: 11.5 months following an academic calendar, Early August - July each year.
