Video: UF Health Pharmacy Residency
The patient care mission of the UF Health Jacksonville Department
of Pharmacy is to provide safe, effective and appropriate medication therapy; to
advocate, initiate and facilitate changes that optimize patient care and improve
the patient experience; and to educate patients, students and healthcare providers.
The philosophy of practice for the department revolves around its practitioners'
responsibility for the provision of comprehensive patient care. This responsibility
includes therapeutic drug monitoring, drug information and the daily education of
patients and health professionals. Highly skilled technicians, a comprehensive electronic health record (EHR)
and advanced technology are used to assist pharmacists in their
practice.
The education of Doctor of Pharmacy APPE and IPPE students and the training of
first-year pharmacy residents and second-year ambulatory care,
critical care,
emergency medicine,
infectious diseases,
medication use safety and policy and
pain management residents
are also the responsibility of these
practitioners.
The department is also committed to clinical drug research activities. The Division of
Clinical Research and the Research Committee help to foster this commitment.
Many practitioners are actively involved in hospital committees and activities.
Their expertise is tapped to serve not only their patients, but the hospital and
community as a whole.
